Purposeful Travels

Chapter 1

Jace Wilder is an average man who has spent most of his life in a cubicle, wondering what it would be like to travel through the United States. He saved a rough amount of $5,000 in his bank account. After working for ten years at a local company, he planned to take two weeks off using his PTO. What motivated Jace was looking at his computer daily and seeing people looking like they were having a great time at the beach, caves, and more! Looking at the calendar by his desk, he felt excited to see what the world offered. He was nervous about traveling from Illinois but knew he had to get out and see reality. Jace hopes to find meaning during his travels, not by working but by discovering every aspect of life.

Chapter 2

As Jace looked at the clock, he was ready to go. He descended the stairs with a sense of adventure, jolting to his car. Without a fixed destination in mind, he knew he needed to break free from the confines of his routine. Jace started driving and took the I55 south to Springfield, Missouri. He stopped in Missouri to get gas at a local gas station. Gas is $3.79, and to fill up his tank, it came to $60.64. The food and snacks he bought came to $100.00. Not worrying, he knows that he has $4,900 left in his bank account. Jace decided to visit a location called the Fantastic Caverns. Jace decided to buy a ticket at the front desk; they explained that the ride would take 55 minutes in a Jeep-drawn tram on a path with an underground river. After the ride, he learned the history of the caves That John Knox discovered.

Chapter 3

Jace spent 35 dollars on the trip to Fantastic Caverns, which put his banking account at $4,865, which he did not mind looking at since he knew he had enough to survive with. From the I55 to the I44, he decided to stop in Tulsa, OK. Jace decided to take a break at the River Spirit Casino Resort for three days. The rooms he stayed in cost $450, and he got to spend some time at the Cove. Where he experienced a mixed martial arts fight in an arena for the first time. Up live the intensity of two fighters battling it out on one another. He got the upper Bowl tickets and gambled with Electronic Games, Table Games, and Poker at the casino. It came to $1500, leaving him with $2,915 left in his banking account.

Chapter 4

The next stop on the I44 is Oklahoma City, where he saw an Oklahoma City Thunder game. He saw them play the Utah Jazz at the Paycom Center and sat in club 225 Row Premium seats. The seats were expensive, but watching them play shows how much heart they put into the basketball game. Watching the game on TV is excellent, but being there in person is a one-of-a-kind thing. The tickets for that game came up to $379, which brought him to $2,536. He sees he is running low on money, so he should budget more now.

Chapter 5

As Jace is driving, he wonders if he should turn around. He is losing funds, and he did get to see more than what he expected to see. Jace is driving on the I44 when Jace sees something in the road. He swerves out of the way, crashing his car. When the ambulance came, there were no significant injuries but a slight concussion; they could take Jace to the nearest city, Amarillo, TX. Jace accepted, and although he was there for a few hours, he saw exciting art on his way to the town, like cars painted with the front part of the cars in the ground, which was, to him, a fantastic artistic creation to imagine what the thought process would be to be creatively doing something like that. They called it the Cadillac Ranch 10 Cadillacs with a beautiful art style.

Chapter 6

With his car extensively damaged, he rented one. Jace decided to end his travels in California. After the accident, they said it would come up to $1,500 after all the gas and food he had from the $2,536 he had been with $1,036 in his banking account. After looking at his map, he decided to go to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Jace considered enjoying his last money on the beach in warm weather. Jace’s experience during his travels was fruitful, with an awakening moment at every turn, in which most was good and some bad. When he decided to return home, he knew it was worth the thrill of the adventure of a lifetime.

Chapter 7

Jace drives to Flagstaff, AZ, where he decides to experience the Grand Canyon. He sees a sightseeing Tour Departing Flagstaff for $180, so he says, “Why not?” He considers the vastness of the Canyon, which looks breathtaking. The depths of the ground and the color scenery of the rocks’ textures are awe-inspiring. There was a little light hiking, and the photos he took with his camera were stunning. What motivated Jace to continue despite running low on funds was that he didn’t want to feel any regret for not leaping and not enjoying what he had seen when he came back to Illinois without a story to tell. Knowing the accident, he was shaken up and decided to stop and get a room before it darkened.

Chapter 8

With his last, Jace finally makes it to his long-awaited destination. After every event, he enjoyed the experience of the Grand Canyon; he enjoyed looking at the Cadillac Ranch, watching the Oklahoma City Thunder play live, experiencing a casino resort, watching a mixed martial arts fight, and taking a tour through the Fantastic Caverns. Jace’s final stop is before he heads back to Illinois. Jace gets to enjoy Santa Cruz’s sunset over the water. Jace sits in the sand and notices a woman looking at him; as he looks in her direction, she smiles, and he smiles back. He realized that out of all the places he went and enjoyed doing it alone, it was half the fun; taking someone with him to enjoy the pleasures of life is what makes the experience life-changing. At the end of his journey, Jace has someone to enjoy the trip back with a story that will last for ages.
