Narrative Nook

Pt. 1

This story begins with a character named Tom. Tom recently moved to Fayetteville, a quiet little city not too busy like California or New York, and folks were starting to populate it. Tom was from California and was very used to a busy lifestyle. When Tom came to Fayetteville, he had no idea what he would get into. Tom started odd jobs here and there, but nothing motivated him to call that a career. He met a woman named Sally. Sally liked Tom the moment she met him and vice versa. Sally, When first meeting Tom, asked Tom for his ID. Tom was a little older than Sally and thought that was interesting as Tom and Sally started dating. Sally grabbed Tom’s attention to a position that showed up on the computer. Tom saw that it was a transportation company needing someone to sell tickets; in Tom’s mind, it was different at best because he never worked at an office job before. His jobs are usually physically demanding. So Tom decided to take this opportunity with this company. Tom went to the interview and met a man called Mu. Mu was very impressed with how Tom interacted socially in the conversation. He told Tom he would call him tomorrow, ensuring Tom had the job. As Tom started training, he noticed that Mu did not know how to operate the program on the computer. Tom discovered that the program that Mu uses is not the same one that Tom is being trained with. So, as Tom was learning, Mu was learning, too. As Tom was working, he came up with problems. There was no manager and no one to ask about program issues. Tom had to figure things out himself.
